24th Council of the Catholic Lawyers Guild
by clgadmin
Message from the President of the Catholic Lawyers Guild (CLG), David Nayar:
Peace and blessings in Christ!
I give thanks to God for the gift of our Catholic Lawyers Guild and for the spirit of fraternity, faith and service that continues to unite us.
At our recent Annual General Meeting, members once again entrusted me with the responsibility of serving as President for the next two years. I accept this responsibility with humility and gratitude, and I look forward to serving alongside our continuing Council members, our newly elected Council members and those who will be co-opted to Council.
I am deeply grateful to all who served on the Council during the last term, especially those who have generously committed to continue serving our Guild. I also warmly welcome our newly elected and co-opted Council members, and thank them for their willingness to answer this call to serve our community with humility, generosity and faith.
As a Guild, we have much to be thankful for. Through God’s grace, 105 volunteer lawyers served at our pro bono legal clinics over the past year, assisting 254 individuals and families seeking help and guidance. Their dedication and generosity have been a blessing to those we serve and a witness to the values we share. We also give thanks that our community continues to grow, with 517 registered members to date.
While these numbers are encouraging, our mission is not simply growth, but the building of a stronger community of faith, fraternity and service. The legal profession can be demanding, and I hope that our Guild will continue to be a place where members find friendship, encouragement, mentorship and prayerful support, whilst reaching out to those in need with compassion and justice.
As we begin this new chapter together, let us continue to walk humbly with the Lord, support one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and place the gifts entrusted to us at the service of the Church and society.
May St Thomas More intercede for us, and may God bless you and your families abundantly.
